Overview
Turing is a Tokyo startup building fully autonomous driving with end-to-end AI: it trains vision-language-action models on its own driving data and, in March 2026, ran what it calls Japan's first real-time public-road driving controlled by such a model. It is also developing physical foundation models under the government's GENIAC programme and with automotive partners, and publishes datasets and research (two CVPR 2026 papers). It was founded in August 2021 by Issei Yamamoto and Shunsuke Aoki. Its Series A totalled ¥27.89B after a ¥12.62B extension in July 2026, for cumulative funding of about ¥36.6B.
